About Us

Civic Asia is a broad-based online platform for groups promoting human rights and civic spaces in Asia. It seeks to amplify a new generation of young activists and citizens in the Asian region on discussions of social issues and social justice, as well as human stories that can contribute to widening participation in civic space.

Mission

Civic Asia aims to deliver original content that seeks to inspire and deliver changes through:

Reporting and analysing developments in the civic space of the Asian region
Amplifying the voices on the ground that seek to inspire others to be active in creating a safe civic space
Highlighting transformative actions and sharing experiences of civic players from Asia with the world.

Vision

Civic Space in Asia is currently under threat from various legal and political challenges. Civic Asia aims to be the go-to media outlet for citizens in Asia seeking to build connections and contribute and collaborate actively to the progress of civic space in the region.

Freedom of Expression: Civic Asia aims to provide and support individuals and organizations to express their opinions and ideas without censorship or fear of reprisal.

Inclusivity: Civic Asia welcomes people from diverse backgrounds, regardless of their race, ethnicity, gender, religion, or socioeconomic status and ensures that marginalized and underrepresented groups have a voice.

Social Justice: Civic Asia is committed to social justice in addressing inequalities and ensuring that the benefits of civic engagement are accessible to all members of society.

Collaborative: Civic Asia seeks to connect and support like minded individuals and organisations in the civic space to collaborate in creating positive changes in the region.
