Asia Feminist Coalition
17 organisations from 10 different countries across Asia convened to establish a regional feminist coalition to advance gender and social transformation. The group included diverse types of organisations from regional and national networks, to forums, to youth movements. The two-day discussion focused on understanding each coalition member’s existing work, drawing out synergies, and developing a shared vision for advancing gender work in Asia. The meeting included team building exercises, selection exercises to refine joint thematic areas and a discussion on the governance structure.
The coalition envisions an inclusive, just, inter-generational and caring feminist Asia. It aims to collaborate, convene and support a feminist regional agenda in Asia.
Together, this coalition agreed to advance feminist principles to guide our response to the climate crisis and to build a more equitable and caring economy. The coalition agreed to push for bold and transformative commitments. It agreed to advocate for greater recognition of and investments in care in pursuit of a feminist, climate and racially-just economic transformation. The coalition would serve as platform to strengthen cross-country learnings and movements to pressurize governments, IFIs, the private sector, and other stakeholders.
